I received my University enrollment pack in the post this morning. I was a bit surprised, since I accepted their offer over a month ago and this has been the first I’ve heard from them. As from the 17th September, I will be required to complete my enrollment by attending the introduction programme, and then I’ll be fully signed on the MSc (to further become a MRes) degree in Web Technologies and Security!
I thought it best to better prepare myself and get going on signing up for the NUS Extra card, and the Sports and Society Card. For those who haven’t yet heard, they now charge a full £10 for the NUS Extra cards. A bit steep considering they used to be free to acquire. If you want a Sports and Society card it’s another £8, then whatever yearly fee each sport club requires. I’m the secretary of the Plymouth University Paintball Club which only charges a £10 membership fee. A bargain when you’d have to fork out £50 for the hockey club or even £15 for the trampoline club!
While trying to sign up for the said student cards and making payments on the umpteen number of membership fees, I noticed how badly designed the Student Union website is. This is partly because it’s very confusing to navigate, it’s extremly cluttered, and just plain buggy to use.
It’s developed by a company called BAM Student Marketing and I’m guessing they don’t charge much for their services!
